Not everyone may agree (obviously!)but name-calling does not help either side.
ToniTonihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08146890233960050633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2237446155472519339.post-30261423134849651592019-03-05T14:43:03.715-05:002019-03-05T14:43:03.715-05:00Hi Pat,

I am just disappointed in an organization that has such a liberal and open history. The direction in general is disheartening, where such wonderful progress was happening. rhonda's escapehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16333998589746919994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2237446155472519339.post-80352037737420090812019-03-05T12:03:35.336-05:002019-03-05T12:03:35.336-05:00Simply because you and I may disagree with the maj...Simply because you and I may disagree with the majority vote does not equate that ALL those who voted with the majority are "bigoted, narrow-minded and emboldened to express their hate and inflict their bias attitudes on others." They may believe that their liturgy or their interpretation of their religion (The Bible), may not allow gay clergy or same sex marriage. If the vote was fairly taken then some latitude should be afforded to the majority rule.
I was raised a Catholic. My wife was Episcopal because her father, a former Catholic, was excommunicated when he married her mother, then a Presbyterian, who also changed her denomination due to the attitudes present in the late 1940s.
Times have changed and are changing still. My brother is a Catholic Deacon. When he was ordained he was called upon to select a special mission and the mission he chose was to make the church more welcoming to those in the LGBT community.
While my brother does officiate at weddings he could not officiate at the wedding of my son to his same sex partner but my brother did give them both (we refer to them as the two Mikes)a special blessing which was appreciated.
I suggest that we afford those that do not see the world the way we do patience and dignity. Referring to otherwise good people and people of faith as bigots, haters and narrow-minded often only goes to show that the person doing the name calling is a bigoted and narrow-minded hater.

Pax
PatPat Scaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148601231866277374noreply@blogger.com
