  2. We want people to respect our rights but we don’t respect women’s rights…funny…huh. We should not be in women’s sports!

    1. I agree at the elite level and after an athlete has undergrown male puberty. I hope you watched the whole monologue. There is so much "hate" in play here for such a small group. We are being played / used as a wedge issue.

Where is the Republican's respect for women's rights about their own bodies. Sports is minor compared to that issue.

    2. It wasn't a big enough issue to lose an election over. The reaction to Leah Thomas made it clear how the majority of the electorate felt on the issue. People don't like being told how to feel or being looked down by an intellectual "elite". The Democrats should have been looking for a candidate with broad appeal the minute Biden took office. Politics is about seeking the greater good for the most people. Or at least it should be.

    3. Why limit to the "elite" level. Do you think fair competition shouldn't be available to all girls? And the puberty comment makes no sense. 100% of the trans athletes that are highly competitive have gone through male puberty.

  3. I remember the news articles concerning this issue in Utah. At the time of the proposed ban there were four trans-kids playing competitive high school sports out of 84,000 participants. Of the four only one was a trans-girl. The state was going nuts about one kid. There are similar numbers for other states. It is reported there are approximately 500 trans-kids playing competitive sports, nation wide. There may be a case by case review but there is a lot more damage inflicted upon trans-kids by the likes of Speaker Johnson and from the pulpit on Sunday morning.

  4. Santayana was right: those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. This issue was debated back on the Fifties and Sixties, when gender transformations first became a practical reality. It was settled for most practical purposes until recently as we witness a new generation ignorantly repeat history. Issues and arguments are again similar, though communications have improved and hyperbole permeates political speech more.
