Chamber Music Concerts 26

I love classical music and the venue adds much to the overall experience. For the last 26 years I have been attending the seasonal Flagler Museum Music Series. There I have listened to and enjoyed world class chamber music in a beautiful 1900's room seating about 80. I have also made many "Music" friends over the years. At first, just "All dressed up with somewhere to go" hiding in the back row. However, the experience has evolved into a real love for the music in an intimate venue.

Sadly, this year I missed several of the concerts due to health issues. Late in the season, I did get to attended the last two. The music never disappoints and I am looking forward to next season's concerts. Here are two photos from this year.

Escapes abound.  All it takes is a little research and daring. Why not?

In the Grand Hall entrance and heading into the concert.
Both beautiful evenings.

  1. You are so right! Classical music performances are among the too few remaining opportunities to dress up. Along with Broadway style theatre, they are Abby’s favorite ways to be all dressed up and somewhere to go, as you say. These performances are wonderful and the audience is on their best behavior. I have attended many in a host of major cities.

My most recent opportunity was the Phoenix Symphony’s New Year’s Eve concert. Theirs is not a small venue; 2300 seats, sold out, free champagne. No back corner for me. I always sit as far forward as I can. This time, I was in the second row up front in a sparkly emerald top and matching clutch, bright white satin skirt, and gold heels. Every woman in my row dressed up, many of them in gold sequin dresses. Those women closest to the aisles got up and danced, something I did not at all expect at a Symphony. It was quite a show, both on stage and down front.
