Are Suddenly Being Worn by the Coolest People Again

Almost out of nowhere, one of fashion's most divisive items has started making its way back onto the scene.  

Once dismissed as "dated" and "unflattering," skinny jeans had been relegated to the backs of wardrobes for years as baggy and straight-leg styles thrived instead. But now, slowly but surely, skinny jeans are creeping back onto our radars, and there's one particular shoe pairing that fashion people are wearing them with. In the early '00s, we'd wear our skinny jeans with either platform heels, ballet flats or ankle boots, and interestingly, it's ballet flats that have returned alongside slim-fitting jeans, looking surprisingly chic in the process.

Somehow both nostalgic and modern, this "dated" pairing combines the elegance of streamlined skinny jeans with the delicate shape of ballet flats to create a particularly polished silhouette. Nodding towards Y2K nostalgia whilst tapping into today's preference for minimalism and a sleek aesthetic, it's really no surprise that the trend has come back around this season.

I Need Advice...

 Friendship vs Politics

I have a problem that you may have faced. An old friend that I have known for over 30 years. Someone I have coffee with several times a month. History; we started playing racket ball at least once a week and continued for nearly a decade. Age and the fact he moved about 20 miles further north, ended the sports time. Even after the move we would still meet and have coffee occasionally. Just guy, family talk, life in general stuff - nothing heavy. Cordial and friendly stuff. Seldom did we delve into anything heavy or politics, he being a republican and now an adamant Trump supporter. 

His disappointment and contempt was obvious when Obama was elected. 

I have always known that there was a bias in much of his thinking with characteristic comments about woke and immigrants / blacks. He being part of a generation that fostered such. Also a love for guns; having many.

Very recently I ask, “knowing what you see/know now, would you vote for Trump again? A troubling “yes” was stated emphatically. I said that I though Trump was a madman with only self-interest. 

I was willing to let the friendship go quietly at this point. Unusually, three weeks went by with no contact for coffee. Just this past week he made contact and it was my intention to see if his thinking had changed with recent events; corruption, war, gas, inflation. 

Not long into today’s guy/BS stuff, he proceeded to describe a person (guy) at his market, long hair, some makeup, female style glasses and jewelry; obviously what we know as presenting female/transgender. Much denigration proceeded and a statement that he would change checkout lines to avoid this person.  

Stunned, I remained silent, quite taken back wondering how he could avoid my obvious changes to an androgynous look over the years. Was he actually calling me out and using someone else to make his point? 

My plan before was to just let the friendship drop. The easy option. How I see the need to express my indignation. How can I accept this without saying something? No longer can I call someone a friend that has such deep-seated bias. Change his mind; not going to happen. However, I can no longer sit in silence with someone with this level of intolerance and not speak. A hard decision!

Now the attitude is not political, but personal. I know, why did wait so long...

Epic Corruption in Plain Sight - Do You Care?

On Monday, Donald Trump dropped his sham lawsuit against the federal government. In exchange, the Justice Department under his control will establish a $1.8 billion fund for “victims of lawfare,” as Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche [still Trumps Personal lawyer] put it. This will be a slush fund for Trump’s allies — presumably January 6 insurrectionists and others already rewarded with a pardon.

The sturdiest protection against corruption would be fierce anger from fleeced taxpayers. A few months ago, when asked about his conflicts of interest, Trump said:

I found out that nobody cared, and I’m allowed to.”

Let’s make this a major issue for the campaign trail and press politicians from both parties to provide solutions, not just soundbites. Or else, as Oyer wrote, we risk having future presidents who “loot and pillage our country without a shadow of shame.”

My Note:

Nixon, in 1972, was first caught, shamed, would have been impeached, and would have been sent to jail for exactly what Trump is doing now. Setting up a slush fund to punish enemies and reward cronies. Some of which were convicted and sentenced for seditious conspiracy, assaulting federal officers (including with deadly weapons), civil disorder, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of government property. All felonies. Promoter of baseless voter-fraud claims, pro-Trump “fake electors”, and Pro-Trump news outlets are all lining up to get your money. 

It is estimated that Nixon only got about $20 million total in illegal corporate contributions prior to his 1972 election. The details are here, with the name, in a NY Times article from 1972; " President's Aides Identify 283 Donors of 5.8‐Million."

The only difference, Nixon fleeced corporate donors promising favors. We the tax payers are paying for this $1.8 billion slush fund with no accountability.

Night at The Colony 5-15-2026

I write about Catie and my Escapes to the Colony's "Gentlemen's Night" often. We have become regulars and get the "Where were you?" when we miss a week or two. Above is my outfit of the evening. I know dress to short, heels to high of my age. With my long hair, a kind of a hippy, 70s look. 

I have had this Lascana dress in my closet for more than a few years. Maybe even pre-covid. It even survived a recent garages sale; no one wanted it. Maybe that should have been a message. However, why not? It must be best seller because Lascana still has it available on it's site; "Ruched Drawstring Dress". 

My version is a little more off-the-shoulder and I love the elastic waist, allowing adjustment to the overall dress length. The night called for short. I do remember having the dress altered with a better (tighter) elastic waist so it stay in place. The adjustable drawstring and ruching at the skirt sides serves as more than just decoration. How short can we go... 

The shoes are comfortable even all night. I love this ever so feminine style and have several pair, only wearing them occasionally. More than once I have looked down and a little toe was attempting a getaway because the front strap was to narrow; "get back in there little piggy." A good night overall with Catie and I having dinner later at one of my favorite West Palm Beach places, The Raindance Stake House. The photo is of Catie as she is going in.  

The Colony Hotel has historical significance for getting out dressed. See my post "I am "Continuing the Tradition - "SheNeal".  Palm Beach had its legendary "High Heel Neil", many years ago and was obviously know for his "High Heels". 

Like I told a friend recently: Over the years, "Palm Beach is a source for many memorable characters. Of which, I think, Catie and I have become." 

Politics Is Breaking Us — Just Ask These Therapists

The political therapy boom has arrived. 

This was in my in-box Saturday morning: 

Good morning. American politics have been deemed broken for years. But now, they're sending people to therapy.

It’s the relentless barrage of crises flashing across our screens, the hours of doomscrolling, each post more unnerving than the last. POLITICO Magazine’s Catherine Kim digs into the rise of political anxiety and the therapists treating it.

Some recommend a media detox; others suggest “radical acceptance" — coming to peace with situations out of one’s control — or turning toward activism. They treat liberal and conservative patients alike. And business is booming.

“I think the impact of politics on well-being is going to be hard this year,” political scientist Kevin Smith, who also runs a political anxiety workshop, tells Catherine. “I think it is probably going to be worse in 2028.” 

The best takeaway for the article:

Beyond recommending a media detox, therapists have a few other prescriptions (aside from the pharmaceutical kind). Some point to radical acceptance: the art of coming to peace with situations one can’t control, so an inability to change things doesn’t turn into suffering. Others suggest shifting approaches to activism, perhaps writing letters to lawmakers instead of attending protests in person.

But if engaging with civic life increasingly requires emotional coping strategies, what does sustained participation in democracy look like for a stressed and divided public?

The worst-case scenario, for the country, if not for one’s psyche, is total withdrawal.

Before we get to today's satirical look at politics, I want to thank all of you that commented on my blog "to-be-or-not-to-be" question. My number one thought is appreciation for the well thought out encouragement and acknowledgement of my purpose/goal. After eleven years and over my 4,000 post I hope to have encouraged you get out and be the best version of yourself.

Now with only spotty referrals my real views are not commencement with the effort that a daily blog takes. I have over 100 post in my queue, so I am going to work through those that are still relevant over the next few months. If something egregious happen, I will comment/inform like always, otherwise my blog will be coming to a close.   

That is if for today, and I will write more as the close draws near. I am approaching twenty million views and it has been quite a ride. Thanks goes to all of my loyal readers and special friends. A special thanks goes to those who comment and share.

This is a look that I talk about often and find exciting. There are so many obvious feminine differentials yet everything pulls together into a single every day, coffee shop look. This will not attract unwanted attention other than someone noticing you are all well put together. How do I know; I wear this look often.

Sneakers, ballet flats or heeled boots all make the look. 

This is truly a mix and match look.  You can add subtract to your comfort level and still be escaping to yourself.  Try it. Maybe not all at once but keep adding to the differentials. The excitement is the extra added frost on the latte.

Facts as we are told: In March, the US intelligence community assessed that Iran was “not building a nuclear weapon.”

As of May 2026, President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that U.S. military strikes, specifically beginning with Operation Epic Fury on February 28, 2026, and a previous campaign in June 2025, "obliterated" Iran’s nuclear program and stockpile.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: “Based on everything we have seen — and I’ve seen it all — our bombing campaign obliterated Iran’s ability to create nuclear weapons. Our massive bombs hit exactly the right spot at each target and worked perfectly. The impact of those bombs is buried under a mountain of rubble in Iran; so anyone who says the bombs were not devastating is just trying to undermine the President and the successful mission.”

Secretary Rubio: “Everything underneath that mountain is in bad shape … There’s no way Iran comes to the table if somehow nothing had happened. This was complete and total obliteration. They are in bad shape. They are way behind today compared to where they were just seven days ago because of what President Trump did.”

Institute for Science and International Security President David Albright: “Overall, Israel’s and U.S. attacks have effectively destroyed Iran’s centrifuge enrichment program.  It will be a long time before Iran comes anywhere near the capability it had before the attack.”

The big question - Is there no way to stop this madman? 

The Price is Right (Wrong)...

Mall Shopping

 

Last week I had a business lunch and after went by the mall.  A beautiful day to shop. Having worked at Soma, and filled in at Talbots and Chicos I always have shops and friends to visit. I had time to kill and after an exchange at LOF, checked in at Talbots with a $20 coupon that needed to see some love. 

The above Talbots Gingham dress is so retro. First, "Gingham" that never seems to go out of style and being a cotton, shirtdress, it reminded me of something my mother had. I loved the look and fit. The store was not at all busy on a Tuesday afternoon, so I took my time and played, trying on several other dresses and a skirt. I love being a girl. 

I had been watching the dress online and found it to just as appealing in person.  From my very first look to actually trying it, there is a problem; the cost. The full price ranges is from $179 to $199 depending on size. 

Can I make that work? No, not even at a sale price. Maybe this is a tariff laden price or just the new normal. Either way, even loving it and at a sale price, it seemed so over priced for a self-described "imported" dress. Talbots is not an exclusive boutique.  

On the other side of the above layout there is a TEMU - Summer Party Dress with a Plaid Print And Short Sleeves Featuring a Split Design. This style I like a little better with a square neck, puff sleeves and shorter length. Who knows, maybe the same manufacture, but, likely the same point of origan. However, for me it had the same appeal. Now the best part, price $12.97 with $2.99 shipping. What is not to like here? 

Yes, I did order and so far still going to pass on the Talbots dress. I will keep you posted and write more when the TEMU option arrives. I have high hope and low expectorations. 

What I know is that if we are willing to accept outrageous prices and unjustifiable price increases, then that is what the sellers will keep giving us.  

Femininity - Not An Act

 

There is a paragraph in a Fictionmania story that is so relevant. The story is "The Candidate's Wife - A Short Story By Maryanne Peters. 

Femininity should not be an act, but a way of life," she explained. You can adopt for an evening out, or for a week or two, or for the rest of your life, but you live it - you don't act it."

 

Maryanne, I hope you do not mind me using the quote. Even in my early crossdressing days, on escapes to group meeting, or out to a restaurant for an evening, I lived being "how I presented".  It was never a costume and as Maryanne described it, not an act.  

Understanding this helps us to live in a word void of excuses and weak justifications. Femininity is our reality. Escape and be who you are, for an evening out, or for a week or two, or for the rest of your life. Live it - You don't act it.

Shameless Rationalizations

Today I am going to venture into the hated realm of politics.  If you feel any remorse for voting for Trump or need intellectual proof to his hate filled inadequate leadership, continue to read.  

Bear in mind this was written before Thump's latest "boondoggle / lie war" or grift to cheat the American tax payers out of one billion dollars for a, never needed, never ask for ballroom.  Such a boldface lie told from day one.  

First I need to define three Greek words used in the below opinion editorial:

Logos (Greek for "word," "reason," or "discourse") is a term in philosophy, rhetoric, and theology referring to divine wisdom, rational structure, or logic. It commonly represents an argument's reliance on facts, figures, and logical reasoning.

Ethos is the characteristic spirit, guiding beliefs, or fundamental values that define a person, group, or culture. Derived from the Greek word for "character," it is frequently used in rhetoric to describe a speaker or writer's credibility, trustworthiness, and authority used to persuade an audience.

Pathos is a rhetorical device and mode of persuasion that appeals to an audience’s emotions, particularly by evoking feelings of pity, sympathy, tenderness, or sorrow. Originating from the Greek word for "suffering" or "experience," it is one of Aristotle’s three modes of persuasion, alongside ethos (credibility) and logos (logic).

 "The Most Unfit Man To Occupy the White House – Ever"

Greek philosopher Aristotle was a master orator who understood the power of words. To that end, he developed what became known as the “Aristotelian triangle” in which he identified three specific ways a speaker can appeal to an audience: logos, ethos, and pathos.

As a writer, I lean heavily on logos, which employs reason to make an argument. A message is thus organized in a logical fashion and supported with rational evidence. I also try to build my own credibility – or ethos – by ensuring that my evidence originates from reliable sources. Some may argue with my reasoning and evidence, which comes with the territory when writing opinion pieces, but my aim is to make reasonable and credible claims in my op-eds.

The one appeal that I usually shy away from is pathos – the appeal to emotions – because I feel it can often sidetrack a claim and neglect the original point. Witness the typical “debates” on social media filled with rancor and rage. I prefer to stay on point and address facts rather than feelings.

But this op-ed is different. The best way to approach the issue I’m about to address is with pathos – instant, honest, and naked emotion. In fact, I fear the typical “level-headed” and “reasonable” manner journalists and politicians have typically taken when analyzing the behavior of Donald Trump ignores what is now, to me, an obvious fact: The man is a cruel and selfish boor unfit to lead any country in the world, let alone the United States of America.

I don’t write those words lightly. They sound partisan, divisive, and yes, emotional. But so be it. All of the man’s antics, insults, and lies since he first ran for office in 2016 – a mountain of evidence that qualifies as logos, actually – undeniably demonstrate that Donald Trump is indeed a cruel and selfish boor unfit to lead any country in the world.

The event that sparked this emotional response from me was Trump’s insult-laced attack on CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins during a White House press conference last week. While asking the president for his reaction to the recent release of additional Epstein files and the survivors involved, Trump said this to Collins:

“You are so bad. You are the worst reporter. No wonder CNN has no ratings because of people like you. You know she’s a young woman. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for 10 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face. You know why you’re not smiling. Because you know you’re not telling the truth. And you’re a very dishonest organization. And they should be ashamed of you.”

It certainly wasn’t the first time he berated a reporter. Trump, in fact, prefers to insult women journalists, whom he has called “nasty,” “piggy,” “terrible,” “ugly” and “incapable.” The man, essentially, has normalized misogynistic rhetoric. How else to explain this dismissive explanation from White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson?

“President Trump has never been politically correct, never holds back, and in large part, the American people re-elected him for his transparency. This has nothing to do with gender – it has everything to do with the fact that the President’s and the public’s trust in the media is at all-time lows.”

Sorry, I’m not buying it. Unfortunately, too many other people continue to believe such shameless rationalizations – or at least they’re giving the man a pass because of the office he holds. Or they’re afraid of receiving the same retribution he has imposed on the many others who dared to question him. Or they want to ride his political coattails.

Gutless. That’s the best way to describe Americans who refuse to hold the president of America to account for his unseemly and vulgar behavior. Why did the journalists present not support Collins at that moment, even if it was to ask a similar follow-up question? As for the politicians surrounding Trump in the Oval Office, the best they could do was squirm as they held on tightly to the red “America Is Back” hats their dear leader had just given them.

The entire scene would be comical – fit for a Saturday Night Live skit – were it not so enraging and, ultimately, sad. What has happened to America? Where has our sense of personal pride and decency gone? I don’t care if you’re a Republican, Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, whatever – this type of behavior from an American president should be unacceptable, at a minimum.

To be sure, America is riddled with problems much deeper than the crassness of its president. I get that. I’ve written about many of those issues in a much less emotional tone. Logos and ethos dominated those op-eds. But my emotions have gotten the best of me this time. Pathos is my natural response to a president who continually spews hateful, self-indulgent rhetoric. Why it doesn’t affect so many others in a similar fashion befuddles me.

Just as I was completing the first draft of this op-ed, Trump was at it again. On social media, he posted a clearly racist AI-generated clip of former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama as apes. The White House initially “dismissed criticism that the video was racist, and said it is from a meme depicting Trump and the Obamas as characters from The Lion King.” After considerable backlash, the post was taken down – 12 hours after it first appeared. The White House conveniently blamed a staffer who “erroneously” made the post.

For his part, Trump declined to apologize, saying the post focused on voter fraud and “nobody knew that [the offensive clip of Barack and Michelle Obama] was at the end of the post.” 

Uh huh. Sure. Whatever. Just another day in Trump’s disreputable and hate-filled America.

I thought I might take some time to rank order some of the ballet flats that are out there and that I think make great options for men. If you are a guy who is considering trying out ballet flats for the first time or if you already wear flats but are looking for something different, hopefully this post will help. I own many of these flats and have at least tried on many others. This list includes a few that I think will also work but I have not yet had the chance to try them on.

My main criteria in developing this list, in order of priority, are as follows:

Comfort – guys really are more about having shoes that are comfortable.

Style – needs to have smooth, clean lines with a unisex look.

Sizing – needs to be available in larger sizes for men.

Price – when it comes to ballet flats, you usually get what you pay for, but it still needs to be reasonable.

My Note: I have ordered a pair of the Amazon Essentials ($22.10) in wide. Amazon has over 83,000 reviews and some appear to be from men. I have several pairs of Tory Ballet Flats and other brands. I do not wear them regularly because I have never been one-hundred percent happy with the width. I am looking for an everyday pair of flats, to wear with jeans and be a dressy alternative to sneakers. 

After receiving the Amazon Essentials Flats, it is love at first wearing. They are 

comfortable and practical. I am going to wear these for a few days and see how they work. Maybe, a not-so "feminine differential" after all.

I have questions: Yesterday (Monday) my non-robot views were near zero. OK not zero but only about 10% of my typical loyal reader views; you, the readers I value. I have few "Followers" compared to other blogs. Have I run my course? Do my views only come from secondary clicks on Femulate and t-Central? Maybe my content is no longer relevant, although I try and keep it varied. 

Doing a everyday post is a lot of work. I am a big girl, so please be honest on continuing? Maybe all blogs have run their course? I knew this, "To be or not be?" moment would come. So I ask, should I continue?

I have always loved the feminine differential of gingham. Maybe my inner Daisy Duke is calling.  Or, the "I am ready for a picnic" look.  For those who have no cluse who Daisy Duke is:
