For many the art of Femulation (as Stana describes it) is a process with or without a destination.
Without a destination you get all dressed up and remain home enjoying cleaning, cooking or self exuberance. This is your time and the "escape' is as real as you need.
For others the process is extended into hours of preparation to be able to escape, ever so briefly, into the civilian world. Sometimes noticed. Sometimes stealth. Fear be dammed! The adrenalin rush is enormous which only robbing a bank could rival. "I did it - the world did not end".
I know this feeling well because in the early days this is just as I felt. Maybe to just mail a letter at midnight or drive-through to get a hamburger. Yes, I breached my front door and am so proud of my bravery. Truly an "Escape". Time to clean up now and plan/dream about the next time.
As our "Escapes" have evolved many of us have nurtured feminine personas that become less male and default into the feminine. You first notice it when no extra-effort produces a, "Welcome Ladies" pronounced when out with friends. What was it that prompted that response? Some of us may have enhance our feminine persona by an androgynous style that blends masculine and feminine elements to blur gender lines. In my case my solid white hair is nearing mid back that I wear in a high ponytail much of the time. All of my jeans are feminine slim cut, some pull on leggings. My sneaker are typically a female designated size although there is very little difference in look these days. My shirts / blouses are fitted sometimes scoop neck or drop shoulder.
Let's be practical. Although a subtle feminine approach is my desired daily look, a degree of practically is necessary. A doctors visit or a return to Home Depot does not require heels and makeup. I have no qualms about being seen as myself in what I call a casual, everyday blended feminine look. Above is similar to what I am wearing today for a Doctor's consolation on a medicine I am not tolerating well. After, there will be a quick lunch at an outside cafe.
Here is an over simplification; For decades women have been borrowing for the masculine side so I borrow from the feminine. Why not?
How do you blend your "Escapes" to be practical and still be you?
What does it mean: Une femme d’un certain âge is a French expression (“a woman of a certain age”) that suggests a positive attitude toward age, and alludes to the wisdom, experience, and elegance that we acquire along the way.
I found a blog recently written by Susan Blakely that not only defined this French term, but gave it meaning.
By Susan Blakey March 18, 2024
One of the things I’ve always loved about the French style aesthetic is that there’s often a mix of masculine and feminine elements in an outfit. Today I’m sharing an easy striped sweater outfit. And I’ll break down how I balanced the masculine / feminine elements to hit my style sweet spot.
I think a little bit of contrast or tension in an outfit can be what makes it interesting. Outfits that are too much one thing can look a bit formulaic and expected. I love mixing masculine and feminine, rough and refined, polished and relaxed, or classic and quirky to achieve a certain vibe. (And I’ve never been comfortable in a strictly “girly” look, anyway.)
Nowadays, many types of clothing have become more unisex. (Jeans, for example.) And whether an item of clothing “reads” as masculine or feminine may depend on the viewer’s culture, region, upbringing, and traditions. It’s not my intention to perpetuate rigid gender stereotypes, and your perception of an item may differ from mine. And each person will have their own idea of what feels “balanced.” But here’s my breakdown, and why this look hit the balance and vibe I was going for.
The boy-meets-girl outfit breakdown
Starting with the base, the jeans and tee alone would read as masculine. (Especially a cuffed, straight-leg jean.)
The bandana pattern of the scarf leans a little masculine, but the soft, silky fabric is more feminine, so that’s a nice mix right there.
The softer shape and crocheted texture of the cardigan read as feminine, though the stripes temper that a bit. (Straight lines and shapes tend to read as more masculine, curved lines and shapes more feminine.)
The shoes…definitely feminine with that pointed toe. (I could also go slightly more androgynous with a pair of sneakers instead.)
And the soft bag with the drawstrings also reads as more feminine.
What opposing elements (if any) do you try to balance in your outfits?
The Daily Beast: Trump’s Weird Shoe Fetish Just Got Even More Embarrassing
Donald Trump has been betrayed by the very company behind a set of discount dress shoes the president literally can’t buy enough of.
Trump is reportedly, and inexplicably, so obsessed with a pair of $145 Oxfords—produced by Chicago-based brand Florsheim that he’s lately taken to forcing White House staff to wear them too. The longtime mall brand’s loafers was worn by King of Pop Michael Jackson.
“All the boys have them,” a female aide told the Wall Street Journal on Monday. “It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them,” another added.
THE MEANING
My Note: Like the tee.

The Redesigned Tee is the defining piece of the Signature Collection — created for the Living Redesigned woman and the standard she carries.
Crafted from premium mid-weight cotton, this luxury women’s t-shirt offers structure without rigidity and softness without compromise. The silhouette is modern and intentional — relaxed yet refined, designed to integrate seamlessly into a curated wardrobe.
The typography is architectural and declarative:
Redesigned. A word that represents discipline, growth, and conscious evolution.
This is our brand legacy shirt — the piece that anchors Living Redesigned. It is designed for women who build their lives with clarity, who value refinement over noise, and who move forward with purpose.
Pair it with tailored trousers, structured denim, or layered under sharp outerwear for a minimalist, elevated aesthetic.
This is not trend-driven apparel. This is elevated identity wear.
A few post ago I notice how cute white shorts and white tee could look together. Add to that, feminine platform athletic shoes (trainers for the rest of the world) and you have a great gym, outdoor cafe, or going to the market look.
The shorts were an easy find on on Amazon "Women's Sweat Shorts with Pockets Cotton French Terry Drawstring Summer Workout Casual". The drawstring is an easy fit and love that they are definitely short. I ordered small for a nice front and back fit. The material is neither sheer or to heavy; perfect.
The platform sneakers are also Amazon, "LUCKY STEP Women's 90s Chunky Sneakers Sparkly Bling Rhinestone Rope Platform". The heel height is 2.6 inches so who will know you are wearing heels. Just the right amount of feminine look. Be warned, they do make your foot overall look a little larger than I expected.
There is a sister pair "K KIP WOK Chunky Sneakers for Women Fashion Platform White Leather Casual Dad Shoes Comfortable Wedge Walking Sport Sneakers" with at 3.15 lift / heel.
My concern, maybe a to youthful look? I will try it out and let you know.
Sports bra is optional. However, like Stana on Femulate says, "Feel like a woman. Wear a bra!"

| As a crossdresser, what is your favorite outfit? it's so difficult to choose because I love most women's clothing but if its summer I'd have to say either shorts or a summer dress. |
After suffering for 40 years failing miserably as a man I felt it was time for a drastic change so I decided to explore all those feminine feelings urges and desires I carried secretly for all those years. The first time I was fully feminized seeing my reflection of this attractive sexy woman staring back at me I actually cried out of happiness to finally feel see the person I should have been born as. It felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I couldn't stop smiling at how I felt and looked. In a single brief moment my physical appearance, my emotions and my mental state all came together making me realize my life as a pathetic beta male was finally over. I accepted and embraced being a woman was now my new life. Pamela was born and I've never been healthier physically and mentally as I have been these past 16 years. Yes I finally achieved the life I so desperately wanted to live.
After being in the closet for 5 years working on my body image, make up, trying all types of clothing, accessories, breast forms, walking and talking in a more fem way I realized just how normal and natural it felt being in women's clothes. Having so many fem traits, charasterics and personality then adding the clothing and I got such a boost of self confidence to finally be an attractive sexy person. That changed my entire life as I decided my life would be much better if I just accepted and embraced the fact I preferred to be dressed as a woman. That's exactly what I did and it's now been 16 years I lived full time as Pamela and I've never been happier.
Pamela, thank you so much for sharing your story. Reader, be advised that if you venture into reading more of Pamela's post, some are (R) rated.
Yes, animal print is currently very in style, having a significant revival in Fall/Winter 2025 collections and street style. It is being embraced as both a bold statement and a modern neutral, with popular versions including leopard, zebra, snake, and cow print. Modern styling often involves pairing the print with basics or using it in accessories like shoes and bags.
I was some what sure of the answer because it is one of those style that never seem to completely disappear. Even our Soma bra collection has one of more animal print bra/panty matches.
The top is "Animal-Print Bubble-Hem Chiffon Blouse, and the pants are Chico's "Brigitte™ Slim Pull-On Ankle Pants". This I believe is a good combination and the top will look great will wide-leg black pants.
The pants style grabbed my attention first with it's pull-on flat - front look. I have come to enjoy the feminine look of pullup and high wasted pants. The fit is a definite feminine differential and take pants out of the "male" look; especially with a slim leg cut.
I will keep you posted and will have photos when they arrive.

NYU Langone announced Tuesday it is discontinuing its Transgender Youth Health Program, leaving families frustrated and advocates fighting back.
There's outrage in New York City's LGBTQ+ community over the decision to end that treatment at NYU Langone.
The move comes in the wake of President Trump's Jan. 2025 executive order banning gender-affirming health care, and a December Trump administration proposal to withdraw federal funds from hospitals providing gender transition treatments to young people.
"So-called gender affirming care has inflicted lasting physical and psychological damage on vulnerable young people. This is not medicine. It is malpractice," Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said in December.
"Given the recent departure of our medical director, coupled with the current regulatory environment, we made the difficult decision to discontinue our Transgender Youth Health Program. We are committed to helping patients in our care manage this change. This does not impact our pediatric mental health care programs, which will continue," NYU Langone said in a statement.
"President Trump pledged to restore common sense and put a stop to unscientific and irreversible child mutilation procedures. The Trump administration is delivering," a spokesperson for the White House said. "Trans youth exist"
NYU Langone had reportedly begun cancelling some appointments shortly after the executive order was signed, so the shutdown of the entire program more than a year later may not come as a complete surprise. It is drawing the ire however of a number of advocacy organizations.
"What I know is that trans youth exist. I once was a trans youth myself. This care is supported by nearly every major medical association in the country," said Elisa Crespo of the Stonewall Community Foundation. "American families are really hurting right now. I'm being contacted by parents of trans youth who are devastated and don't know where to turn."
Crespo said it now falls to the city and state to help fill in the gaps in care.
"It's a shame our government is getting in the way of decisions that should be made between families, young people, and their doctors. It's a shame they are perpetuating such a bias and harmful narrative about gender affirming care," Crespo added.
Advocates are calling on NYU Langone to reinstate the program, while hoping the city and state will help fill gaps in care.
