Feminine Differential - A Moving Target

Skirts - Which one might be a crossdresser?

Being realistic /  "real" in our look is an imperative. Being feminine is our goal. So balancing these two is the challenge. The answered to the above question is pretty obvious. Something is off.

It seem like the feminine differential has shifted. So how do we fit in.

I agree with Stana's observation that there are few dresses / skirts in the wild these days. Although the online catalogues abound with dresses and Pinterest has pages of women wearing dresses, I see few. I do not want to live in a world where dresses go the route of the fax machine. Dresses / skirts are not just for special occasions.

Let's face it: During our our era the dress is the quintessential feminine differential.  See: Dresses are Fabulous! Why don’t we wear them more often?

I am in the mall several times a week and work in a store that is exclusively female oriented. Ninety-nine plus percent of my customers are female. What do I see?

Typically is see shorts, pants, and only the occasional a skirt. Today I had 38 customers by the end of my 4 hour shift; one skirt. If I see a dress it is most often on a professional woman, mission shopping on her lunch. I always complement. Just recently I helped a woman casually dressed who needed a special bra to wear with her dress. She had the dress with her and she / we had fun looking for just the right undergarments. I was encouraged that her "go to" choice for the event was a very feminine dress.

My closet is lettered with dresses, many with the tags still attached. I dress to blend in. Undue attention could be at best distracting or at worst dangerous. Choose your venue for safety. Prepare - We tend to be very astute people watchers, so see what is being worn with attention to blending. To be just one of the girls. There is nothing wrong with being well dressed and "put-together". Just don't make yourself a target.

  1. I find myself in the minority all the time as I stick to dresses - sometimes skirts. Therefore I am usually the most girly person anyplace I go. I just won't roll over to blend in. Funny thing is I get a lot of compliments from women. Bite my tongue to keep from saying-"So why don't you dress up?"-emily

  2. addendum-for the majority of my life I envied women and the clothes they wore.
so now that standards have gone down the drain can't buy in to going down that drain-emily
