We accept things that belittle us or make us unhappy, because it’s an easier option than standing up for what we are or what we want.

Here is a bit of an explanation for my "Knock-Knock" post last Saturday. My daily blog views are down 75% since Trump took office. Is the fear so palpable that even reading about being transgender is striking fear? Seems so. "Is Musk accessing my browser history?"
The Guardian: Research by TotalJobs finds 65% now believe secrecy is necessary to feel safe at work in the UK.
However, I do want to thank those of you that provided positive comments. There seems to be a core group of 40-50 readers.
Back in the 80's I attended a Support Group that ahead of the meeting sent out a newsletter to its members only. Although the hotel was never mentioned the newsletter contained a veiled description of a vehicle (every month different) with a number noted on the dash. This was our room number for our meeting.
I attend another Support Group meeting in the early 2000's where the restaurant only allowed use of a toilet in a cleaning supply closet; dirty mops, smelly trash bags and bleach bottles everywhere. The meeting took place in a dingy meeting room that was no longer used. The florescent lights, that worked, likely had not been changed since the 70's. I pulled up to the front to valet my car, was told to only park in the back and to enter through the service entrance.
Are we headed back to this? Don't blame Trump. Blane yourself for being willing to accept being treated as second-class humans.
The readers I have lost will not see this. So it is up to you, my loyal readers, to stand up, contact your friends, organize, and don't let the bastards win.
By being cowards, is not how the gays gained acceptance / tolerance. If we don't stand up, be visible and be proud then we are destine to be relegated to invisibility. And, the service entrance.
Where will you be on March 31?
I've had the privilege the past few years of expressing myself openly. Now, I'm trying to enter the corporate workforce again, and I'm worried I'll lose myself again. It's so hard to find work.
ReplyDeleteTalk to Stana about a drop in traffic she saw some strange things post election
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your views have fallen off so much. I can understand why some folks would go back into the closet but not even reading about transgender things is beyond comprehension. Like you said, are they afraid muskrat is reading their browser history?? Please keep publishing as we need to be brave and be seen as that is the only way we will survive.
ReplyDeleteHello Rhonda, I'm one of your Northern neighbors and a long time daily visitor. Your work here has been inspirational and I hope that you can keep it up and help inspire the masses to stand up for what is right.
ReplyDeletethose who have gone in a hole should be ashamed. The fear I read about is absurd. Do they think they are in Berlin in the 1930's? We have a constitution and those over the top in the GOP will eventually flop if they go too far. I enjoy your work although as a Libertarian I disagree with you about 80% of the time.
ReplyDeleteThose who are now cowering were probably pleased as punch when the last Administration pushed stuff like trans women in girl's sports. This issue (a sure loser) more than anything else put the spotlight on us and now we just have to ride it out. Certainly not by following the previous game plan

I will be delivering 15-20 Meals on Wheels, as usual on Monday. And Rhonda, I know it's discouraging to have fewer readers. But everything, everything is screwed up right now, and it's very stressful. And fearful. We tend to pull inside ourselves for security and focus less on the "outer", more frightening world. Your readers aren't lost. They're hunkering down, like me, hoping this will pass quickly. But it won't. We need, I need your example, your gentle goading and spunkiness
ReplyDeleteto carry on, to avoid becoming passive. Please keep on Rhonda. I live in Iowa where fighting this madness has become more urgent. Thank you, thank you for all you do for us.
Dear Rhonda, I've been away a bit and recovering for a long cold so I did miss your knock-knock post. I love your posts, your spirit, and your example. Thank you, Bobbi
ReplyDeleteI read every post.
ReplyDeleteTrans women in sports is a red herring. MAGA and their ilk try to divide and attack anyone they can, especially those they perceive as vulnerable. If it weren't trans women in sports, it would be something else (and is, as they go after everything they can think of and see what sticks).
Hi Rhonda, I have read your blog for years. As for me, I'm just spending most of my free time in activism. Which I was never really an activist until now. Prior, read this and other blogs daily. Please do keep posting!
