Trump Blames Trans People

Trump Blames Trans People for Pending Government Shutdown in “Unhinged” Screed

President Donald Trump is already blaming transgender people’s civil rights for a possible government shutdown later this month, demanding that Democrats conform to his “principles” and back down on trans rights.

In a missive posted to his own social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump refused a meeting requested by Democratic minority leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries amid a Congressional deadlock on multiple budget proposals for the 2026 fiscal year. Trump claimed that Democrats were attempting to “hold American Citizens hostage” to force through “Radical Left Policies that nobody voted for,” mostly referring to the rights of trans people and immigrants.

According to ERIN IN THE MORNING:

Republicans are making transgender people the scapegoat for the shutdown. That framing puts Democrats under intense pressure to sacrifice their LGBTQ+—and especially transgender—constituents. They hold the power to filibuster any deal in the Senate that targets queer and trans people, and any final package will reflect what both parties’ leadership agrees to in negotiations. This moment is shaping up to be the most serious test of Democrats’ commitment to LGBTQ+ rights since the 2024 elections—and the precedent is not encouraging. In last year’s NDAA fight, Democrats refused even to allow a vote on striking a TRICARE ban for transgender youth after Republicans insisted on it in the final negotiate package, despite Democrats controlling the Senate. That ban became law, despite Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s attempt to remove it—an effort blocked by her own party’s leadership.

  1. One thing I've learned about Trump: When people stand up to him, he labels them as radical and irrational. He uses fear to motivate people, and foolish people give in to that fear.

For some unknown reason (probably related to his own fears), he hates trans folk. It'll take years to recover from this regime's evil actions, and I hope the Democrats in the Senate stand firm, as long as it takes, to stop him. The longer that the Federal Government is closed, the less people will support him. Starving and homeless people have little reason to support an unjust regime. And the more people are at risk at joining this class, the more they will choose to oppose him and his regime.

Yes, we all will hurt. But it's better to pay the devil now, than to be crushed by him later on....
