Political Week In Review 8-13-2023

Trump’s legal drama grows by the day:  Trump’s next possible indictment could be looming in Georgia, where Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is now expected to seek more than a dozen indictments next week in what could be the broadest sweep against Trump and his associates yet. The former president believes he will be among those charged, sources told CNN.

Politico -DeSantis’ conservative populism has left some donors chafing:  “DeSantis made a fatal error — his whole anti-Disney, anti-corporate stance is so foolish,” said Kathy Wylde, president and CEO of the Partnership for NYC — a trade organization that represents Wall Street executives. “I know a donor to him who sat him down, and told him what a mistake this was early on, and he didn’t care.”

CNN - It’s hot. And it’s going to stay hot for millions of Americans.  It’s been a scorching summer for many Americans, with tens of millions living in areas under extreme heat.

Over the last three weeks, more than a third of the population has experienced weekly average maximum temperatures above 90 degrees, particularly in the southern half of the country.

Last week, nearly 12% of Americans dealt with average highs topping 100 degrees, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s the highest percentage of Americans feeling average highs in the triple digits so far this summer.
