The Morning After by Maureen McGovern

"There's got to be a morning after
If we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine
Let's keep on lookin' for the light...

Today is the US election day.  What tomorrow will bring we do not know.  Will it be a peaceful transition or a civilian war. The question put to Benjamin Franklin has never seemed more timely: Well Doctor what we got, a republic or a monarchy?  "A Republic, If You Can Keep It".

Encouraging you to vote, one way or the other today, is likely a moot issue.  Many of you have voted early and during this year of maximum polarization minds are surely set. Never in my lifetime has my vote felt more important. It is with pride I will wear my "I Voted" sticker today.

Collectively, let us all take a deep breath and await the "Morning After".

Just in case you have not voted:

  1. I seem to remember a political rally that use that song just before voting started getting reported.
