I mentioned in an earlier post that "I self-limited as I got older, but never let the girl screaming inside go unrecognized or be silent." From my early toy dual-gender childhood, I knew that I would be teased and ridiculed for playing with girl toys. Although I have wonderful memories of having neighborhood girls over to play and "have tea parties" with our dolls.
Then a single word changed my entire outlook towards life; "SISSY". I wanted to be one of the guys. As I succumb to peer pressure I learned that our society expects boys/men to behave like men! I suppress my feelings and wasted many years of not enjoying the company of the feminine person that is within.
See this artificial standard for what it is: Irrelevant prejudices. Embrace your feminine characteristics and live your life - ESCAPE.
Here is a feminist comment that we can surely relate to:
From "Full Frontal Feminism" by Jessica Valenti:
“What’s the worst possible thing you can call a woman? Don’t hold back, now.
You’re probably thinking of words like slut, whore, bitch, cunt (I told you not to hold back!), skank.
Okay, now, what are the worst things you can call a guy? Fag, girl, bitch, pussy.
Notice anything? The worst thing you can call a girl is a girl. The worst thing you can call a guy is a girl. Being a woman is the ultimate insult. Now tell me that’s not royally fucked up.”
Jessica Valent is an American blogger and feminist writer, founder of the Feministing blog in 2004. She is the author or co-author of four books on women's issues, including Full Frontal Feminism (2007),[a] He's a Stud, She's a Slut (2008),and The Purity Myth (2009)
