When left up to the states the decisions will be based on bias and political expediency. History and proof - that this has happened and will happen again.
Not fully but an example of bias. The states should have the rights that are not provided to the general government. The plan of the Republic was to have the states serve as labs for ideas to form and to move from the ground up rather than be imposed on the freedoms and liberties of the people from the top down. It would seem that the top down use of big government force is the communist system put forth by Marx as opposed to the freedoms that were pushed by our founders. I truly like you because that is my choice. I would not want a large general government forcing me to like you. Just saying to be careful what you wish for. Pat
Pat In most case I could not agree more. However, when the state disadvantages a group because of bias and political expediency the judiciary and or the Justice Department must act. Otherwise we would still be living under Jim Crow Rules, segregation or slavery. I was brought up in a segregated south where states rights were the justification. Wrong then and wrong today. The States do not have the right to act in opposition to principals that define our republic.
Funny but sad at the same time....sigh
